Hello GMMA Family! My name is Chanmi and I am a third year, pre-med student at Emory University majoring in Interdisciplinary Sciences with a concentration on Intersectionality. What ultimately drew me to GMMA was something a medical professional shared during an introductory phone call about the organization. He said, “When we go on mission trips, the medical professionals don’t need you to do their work. But, they still want you to work alongside them because they are invested in you.” To me, GMMA is so much more than a networking or volunteering opportunity. It’s a stepping stone to understanding and supporting the lives of missionaries who faithfully commit to fulfilling the great commission. We hope that by bringing GMMA to Emory, we can be be a light on our campus that produces so much fruit, both non-Christians and Christians alike will witness God’s presence. Emory’s officers are extremely excited for this upcoming year and we cannot wait to see how God stretches and transforms us. Please keep us in your prayers.
My name is Doreen Yang. I’m a sophomore majoring in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology and minoring in Theater on the pre-PA track. As I grew older and became interested in medicine, I was excited about combining two things that I was passionate about: serving others and spreading God’s love. GMMA is exactly that, and I’m really looking forward to see how God uses broken and flawed people like us to carry out His perfect will and show His unfailing love to each other, our campuses, and the mission field.
I am currently a sophomore pursuing pre-med. I want to combine my passions in healthcare and Christianity to spread God’s love on our campus and throughout the world. I am excited to see our community grow together spiritually in serving God through the practical work that GMMA does to help people.
Hi GMMA. I am currently a pre-med student at Emory University majoring in economy. I’ve have had a heart for missions ever since my first mission trip to Haiti during my freshman year of highschool, where I was able to experience the power of the gospel and God’s heart for the nations firsthand. I think that medicine is an effective medium through which the love and message of God can spread, and I am extremely excited to see how these two of my passions will merge.
What drew me to GMMA was its exceptional opportunities for missional work. I have actually never gone on mission trips prior to joining GMMA, so I thought this would be the perfect way for me to really start getting involved in the mission field. What’s more, these mission trips would be medically based; as someone thinking about pursuing a career in medicine, I would be able to get exposure and insight into what medical work is like, especially outside of a typical hospital setting. I’m looking forward to how God will use GMMA to build a strong, global network of students and professionals with a passion for healthcare centered on Christ.
Media and Outreach
My name is Yedarm Kim and I am a junior studying Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology and Psychology. I became interested in GMMA because it opened me up to a new field I was interested in (missions), but what drew me the most was how the club was centered on God and how we could use our passions to glorify his Kingdom. GMMA gives me a chance to learn more about missions and the medical field, and I wanted to help other pre-med students gain opportunities and experiences within the medical field. GMMA helps us focus why we’re doing what we’re doing. It helps me understand the purpose of my passion: to devote my passions for God’s glory and to help others do the same.
