The Northwestern GMMA Student Chapter began in the fall of 2015. It is our goal to bring healing onto our campus and to the mission field, create mentorship between healthcare professionals and students, and grow together as brothers and sisters in Christ.
My name is Mathew Chong. I am currently the President for the Northwestern GMMA chapter. I am very interested in people’s mental/spiritual wellness and am looking to pursue a career in psychiatry or hospice care. My vision for GMMA is to grow a community that acts out God’s love and inspires others to live out his calling, whether it be through medical missions, community outreach, or having wonderful fellowship. I’m pretty excited to get to know more interesting people and grow together in serving God. What I love about GMMA is that we all share a similar passion and together form such a fun, loving community. I can’t wait for what God has in store for us this year, and I hope y’all will join us!
Vice President/Missions Coordinator
I love GMMA because it’s a place where I can see a clear intersection between my faith and my goal of working in medicine. I hope and pray that our chapter will be able to share a glimpse of God’s deep love to those we serve on mission trips, as well as reflect His love onto students on this campus and to each other. It’s really humbling to see how powerfully God can use students like us to do work for His kingdom, whether that’s inside or outside this Northwestern bubble. I am so excited to build relationships with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and witness how God will use our chapter for His glory!
My name is Alex and as the Communications Coordinator, my vision for our chapter this year is for students and professionals to build Christ-centered relationships and encourage one another to pursue the ways in which we can honor God through the unique skills and passions we have been given. I’ve personally been so blessed by GMMA and am so grateful for the various mentors and students that God has allowed me to develop relationships with. I hope to continue to serve GMMA and allow God to truly take reign over my life. I look forward to meeting you all and serving with you guys for His Kingdom Glory.
My name is Albert, a current sophomore majoring in biological sciences. I seek to understand the implications of spirituality on people’s physical and mental health. Through GMMA, I hope to see God’s work in action from both a health and evangelical sense, while simultaneously building relationships among my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. I am excited for this school year, and feel free to get in touch!
Our Chapter Goals for this Year
- Build deeper relationships between students in our chapter, between students and professionals, and between GMMA members across the nation.
- Establish a long-lasting partnership with a local community/philanthropy in need.
- Grow and mature in our walk with Jesus as we prepare to share the gospel with others in the world and utilize our training in missions.

We had a great first meeting, where we introduced new students to GMMA, and got to know one another. Thank you, Dr. Christine, for speaking and encouraging us! It was great having students and professionals come together as we kicked off the new school year!
Mexico Mission Trip
A team from Northwestern GMMA joined students and professionals from all over the country, and headed down to Baja California, Mexico. There we teamed up with Siloe Ministries and helped run health clinics, getting to pray for each of the patients. We also did children’s ministry with kids the Door of Faith orphanage, as well as in the local area. It was amazing to see God move through the local communities, and within our own hearts.
