The Northwestern GMMA Student Chapter began in the fall of 2015. It is our goal to bring healing onto our campus and to the mission field, create mentorship between healthcare professionals and students, and grow together as brothers and sisters in Christ.
Hi! I’m Julia, Northwestern GMMA’s Head Coordinator. My vision for the Northwestern University Chapter is for students and professionals to come together and build one another up in Christ, whether in preparing for careers, or glorifying our Lord in worship and service. One thing that I have loved about GMMA is how God is the center of our relationships with one another. I have loved growing with students and professionals in the Chicago area and around the country. I can’t wait to see how God works in us and through us in the upcoming year!
Hi my name is Jiham Lee and I am the Missions Coordinator for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year. I have much interest in medical technologies and seeing how technology can be used to aid medical mission trips. My vision for Northwestern GMMA is for all members to go on at least one mission trip during the year and to experience God’s love, power, and Spirit before, during, and after the trip. I am excited to get to know each and every member on a deeper level and to witness spiritual transformation. What I love about GMMA so far is the fun, dedicated local and national community of GMMA. Hope to you see you guys soon!
Hi! My name is Helen and as the Mentorship Coordinator, my vision for our chapter this year is for students and professionals to build Christ-centered relationships and encourage one another to pursue the ways in which we can honor God through the unique skills and passions we have been given. I am excited to grow with each and every one of you in Christ’s love and to have opened eyes to the things that God has in store for us. GMMA is such a loving and uplifting community and I cannot wait for all the relationships that will be made and ways that God will be working in us this year – hope you will join us!
Hello! My name is Mathew Chong. I am currently the co-operations coordinator and treasurer for the Northwestern GMMA chapter. I am very interested in people’s mental/spiritual wellness and am looking to pursue a career in psychiatry or hospice care. My vision for GMMA is to grow a community that acts out God’s love and inspires others to live out his calling, whether it be through medical missions, community outreach, or having wonderful fellowship. I’m pretty excited to get to know more interesting people and grow together in serving God. What I love about GMMA is that we all share a similar passion and together form such a fun, loving community. I can’t wait for what God has in store for us this year, and I hope y’all will join us!
Our Chapter Goals for this Year
- Build deeper relationships between students in our chapter, between students and professionals, and between GMMA members across the nation.
- Establish a long-lasting partnership with a local community/philanthropy in need.
- Grow and mature in our walk with Jesus as we prepare to share the gospel with others in the world and utilize our training in missions.

We had a great first meeting, where we introduced new students to GMMA, and got to know one another. Thank you, Dr. Christine, for speaking and encouraging us! It was great having students and professionals come together as we kicked off the new school year!
Mexico Mission Trip
A team from Northwestern GMMA joined students and professionals from all over the country, and headed down to Baja California, Mexico. There we teamed up with Siloe Ministries and helped run health clinics, getting to pray for each of the patients. We also did children’s ministry with kids the Door of Faith orphanage, as well as in the local area. It was amazing to see God move through the local communities, and within our own hearts.
