Brian Lee, President
3rd Year, Biology Major
“I am Brian Lee, a third year biology major at UCSB. I will be serving as the President of the UCSB GMMA chapter. I joined GMMA because I wanted to give love back to God and share this love with others. GMMA is LOVE to me. It has shown me how God is working for us and taught me what living in Christ really means. It has given me a vision to see people live in Christ. Serving our community and being around people has made me have more passion and love for God, for His kingdom, and for His people.”
Erica Tamaki, Treasurer
3rd Year, Biology Major
“GMMA is a fellowship where I can find like-minded individuals who are not only God-loving people but disciplined and diligent in their academics and future career plans. The community at GMMA encourages me to do everything I can earnestly and to the best of my abilities because I am made in God’s image and should be a direct reflection of Him no matter where I am- whether in a Christian or professional setting. Being in GMMA is a constant reminder that God can be glorified at anytime and at any place.”
Nehemi Winn, Vice President
4th Year, Chemistry Major
“I am Nehemi Winn, a 4th year, pre-health Chemistry major. I will be serving as the Vice President of the UCSB GMMA chapter. I joined GMMA because I love Jesus and I love people and helping them. GMMA provides me with a community to challenge and grow my spiritual walk and prayer life, as well as learn about the healthcare field and make valuable, life-long connections. The mentorship available through this alliance is invaluable, and the wisdom and encouragement I received from the doctors has been such a blessing to me. As a ministry, we will strive to spend more time with God as a ministry, in prayer and in Word. In the coming school year, I hope and pray that God will open up more opportunities to involved more students in a wider demographic, whether or not their career goals are strictly healthcare.”
Yun Seo Lee, Missions Coordinator
3rd Year, Biopsych Major
“GMMA has had a special place in my heart since I went on medical missions to Cambodia! There, I was truly humbled to see how people who have so little could be so full of sincere joy. It was there that I realized it is possible to serve God through the medical field: by using the gifts I’ve been given to bring both physical and spiritual healing. I am thankful that GMMA has become my wonderful community and prayer movement that encourages me to grow.”
Jenny Lee, Secretary
3rd Year, Biology Major
“To me, GMMA is a place where I look to for support and guidance. GMMA is where I have formed long-lasting relationships and meaningful connections with those who share the same values and love for Christ. Whenever I feel lost or unsure about either my professional track or my spiritual life, I know that I can go to anyone in GMMA for advice. I hope to not only grow stronger in my faith but also to become more assured in whatever path that God has planned for me in the healthcare field. I look forward to the next few years and fulfilling His Great Commission with a joyful heart!”
Kathy Chung, Public Relations Officer
2nd Year, Psychological & Brain Sciences Major
“Coming into college, I knew that I desired to serve with an organization that involved medical missions trips, and GMMA was the perfect opportunity for me to fulfill that goal. I have a passion and desire for serving others, and GMMA gave me the wonderful chance to serve God’s people, not only through simply sharing His word, but through healthcare. Sharing the same passion as many other students has been so rewarding, as we have been able to help one another grow in our spiritual, personal, and academic lives and provide a support system for one another, while keeping each other accountable. I desire to keep serving God and glorifying Him through everything that I do.”
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”
– 1 Peter 4:10
About UCSB Chapter
The UCSB GMMA Campus Chapter is a new, budding chapter that started in September 2017. We are excited and honored to be doing God’s work in this opportunity through GMMA. Over the past 2 years, our chapter has grown, and the members have become closer together through love and serving. Please pray for wisdom and guidance as we continue expanding our chapter and reaching out into our community.
We are starting UCSB GMMA, because we want to provide an opportunity for every pre-health student on campus to seek Christ as motivation in all they do, especially as they consider their future careers. We also want to spread God’s love to those in need through GMMA mission trips and local volunteering.
General meetings are held bi-weekly on Mondays at 7:30 PM, in the Student Resource Building in the African Diaspora Room.
Please check out and join our facebook group for more information as well as announcements.
Our next Mission Trip is March 21-23! Please continue to keep our chapter and the entire team in your prayers.
Our chapter will be going on two Mission Trips this school year. The first will be in March 2020 and then second will be in May 2020. Come out to the meetings to find out more information!
