“GMMA is a special organization to me because it fuses the Gospel with my career aspirations. Everyone in the GMMA family is a reminder of what it looks like to glorify God in not just their personal lives, but also their professional lives. It is such a blessing to learn from and grow with mentors and peers that share the same desire to love God and love others through service and fellowship, and I’m so excited for God to use our chapter to honor and serve Him both near and far!”

“Our chapter was recently integrated into the GMMA community, and it has been an amazing experience so far! I love GMMA because it combines my interests in medicine with my faith, and look forward to growing and nurturing both through GMMA. While we are certainly dealing with challenging and unprecedented circumstances, I am certain that God will provide for a fruitful year!”

“I feel so blessed to be a member of the GMMA family. The GMMA family has been very supporting and encouraging in helping me grow spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. Not only have the members kept me accountable in my walk with God, but it’s been really great meeting people from across the country with one common goal — to serve the community with a Christ-centered heart. The mentors and leaders of GMMA have been a true inspiration, and I hope I can continue to grow and serve the community and world with God’s love.”

“After transitioning to being a GMMA chapter last year, I witnessed firsthand how God is moving across campuses in the US to make His name known in medical work. The mentorship and guidance we’ve received already has pushed me to actively question what it means to live out the missional call every day, and ultimately in a health career. I’m excited to see how God will add to our numbers and work through our new GMMA family this year!”

“GMMA provides a space where I can pursue both God and my future career alongside with a community of loving brothers and sisters in Christ. I love how supportive and loving the GMMA community (both nationwide and at Vandy) is. Being in GMMA has encouraged me to be a reflection of God’s love, to serve those around us, and to glorify Him in everything I do, which are all habits I hope to continue embodying in my future career. 🙂 “

“Through GMMA, I am able to connect my faith in God and my goal of working as a healthcare professional. I’m so glad that there are many opportunities to serve the Lord and the underprivileged communities alongside like-minded, passionate students. Through this organization, I met amazing medical professionals and members of the GMMA community, sharing our love for God and interest in medicine. I’m super thrilled to serve on future mission trips and plan various events in hopes of guiding individuals to pursue Christ and pray that our chapter will grow into a family that can support one another through our spiritual journey!”

“GMMA is an organization that merges my faith with my career aspirations. It has allowed me to meet some amazing students and mentors that share similar passions. Everyone in GMMA has been so encouraging and willing to share anything. It’s amazing to be a part of this organization. I am excited for Vanderbilt’s new chapter, and can’t wait to see us grow spiritually!”

“I am blessed to be a part of GMMA and to be able to invest in the next generation of Christian healthcare professionals.  I am encouraged to see young leaders grow in their faith and commit themselves to live for God.  My prayer is that GMMA will be an organization that nurtures love for God and for others-at home and abroad, and as much as we have all been so blessed, that we would be a blessing to others.

As Christian healthcare professionals, may we generously share the eternal life-giving medicine of the Good News of Jesus Christ to a dying world.”

Our History

The Vanderbilt GMMA chapter began as Project Heal four years ago, an organization unique to Vanderbilt created by alum Hannah Kang. Project Heal had similar values to GMMA, as it was committed to serving locally and internationally through volunteer work and medical missions. Last year, Iris Kim (current Missions Coordinator) reached out to Dr. Peter Chung, Jr. to become a chapter of GMMA. We successfully transitioned in the spring of 2020. We are looking forward to growing on the Vanderbilt campus!
